Second Chances

Second chances are sacred things. They should never be taken for granted because someone (family, friend, partner, etc.) has opened their heart up to you again, even after you’ve let them down. This is a testament to their strength and courage for opening that door again, despite understanding that you messed up and that the possibility exists that you’d do it again. Be grateful. Be kind. Be patient. You cannot rush forgiveness or acceptance, and you certainly can’t expect someone to be comfortable with you again like nothing happened. It did; forgiveness and second chances do not wipe out the past. They’re there as a reminder not to repeat the mistake in the future.

I have given many second changes. I’ve given third ones, too. I’ve had some great experiences as a result; though that isn’t always the case! Watch out for people who do not have the best of intentions. Some people look for a second chance for their benefit, not because they truly care. However, there are a good portion of people that are mostly appreciative that tend to not make the mistakes again; sometimes things become better than they were. I tend not to hold on to grudges and to forgive most of the time, sometimes quickly, because I know that we are human and we make mistakes. It’s human nature to mess up; even the really kind, caring, awesome people in our lives do. We say and do things we don’t mean out of anger, like my son did last night. 😔 It happens...

Not everyone deserves a second chance, but if you’ve decided that someone does deserve one based on circumstances, take it slow and use caution just in case.

However, the really good ones, who care deeply won’t mess up again because second chances are special gifts and they know it. I love this quote because it’s so true, and gives a great understanding about what it takes to give second chances, and why we should appreciate them and be patient through the process..

Use kind words, send love, be kind always in order to avoid needing a second chance.
