21 Days of Gratitude- Day 15

I’m grateful for the Rain.

Sometimes I find inspiration in the little things we take for granted. We can learn much from nature by simply observing it. That’s why today I chose rain. The rain has a great responsibility; without it many things wouldn’t be able to grow and flourish. Grass, trees, flowers, and shrubs would die. As a result, some insects, wildlife, and other animals would die too. We wouldn’t be able to grow certain foods, like fruits and vegetables. Rivers, streams, and ponds would dry up. The rain helps sustain life. Rain helps things thrive and flourish.

Rain also washes things away like it’s the earths own rinse cycle; making things clean and like new again. It cools down the temperature and the surface of the earth. One of my favorite smells is rain on the hot pavement. I love the feeling it brings after washing everything away and cooling it down.

Rainbows in the sky wouldn’t exist without the combination of the rain and the sun. The beautiful result after a storm. The rain storms in our lives act the same way. We can’t grow without a little rain either. When there’s no rain, there’s no growth. How would we become aware of our strengths, abilities, and courage if we didn’t go through those rain storms in life? Sometimes it downpours, but have you ever noticed that the downpours don’t last very long? The rain always lets up, and often goes in stages...much like our lives; the struggles and challenges we go through are stages. We wouldn’t be able to learn from our mistakes without these things. We wouldn’t evolve or change without them either.

Without the rain, we wouldn’t appreciate the sun. Without bad days, we wouldn’t appreciate the good ones. Remember that the rain is important too. All those rainy days impart so many gifts we tend to take for granted.

What are you grateful for?
