I’m grateful for the gift of forgiveness.
Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts a person can give to another, or themselves, second only to love. Forgiveness requires love, and is the most beautiful and highest form of love we can give; unconditional love. It is a sign that the person, or people, mean more to you than the actions that occurred and the hurt that was caused as a result. Forgiveness does not change the past, but it helps move us forward toward the future, gives us the ability to heal, and gives us another chance at starting anew. It takes a strong person to apologize, but only those with the greatest of strength have the ability to forgive. Forgiveness is a powerful strength; it diminishes anger, resentment, fear, and hatred. It sets our hearts free and lifts the weight of those negative emotions for both the person who forgives, and the person who is forgiven....especially when that person is yourself. Only then, can the healing start because forgiveness is essential for healing; healing cannot begin without it.
Forgive those that mean the most to you, even if it isn’t easy, and even if that person is you. Rarely will they disappoint you again, as most of us learn and grow from our mistakes. Know that there is unconditional love behind forgiveness, and remember how powerful a gift it is.
What are you grateful for?
